Privacy Policy for Video Downloader & HD Player

Updated and effective as of 31st July 2026

1. General

Thank you for choosing Video Downloader & HD Player (the "app"). This app is developed and published by Bigscal Technologies Pvt. Ltd. ("we", "us", "our"), and we act as the data controller for the information described in this Policy. We are committed to handling the information of those who use our software responsibly, and this Policy sets out the basis upon which it is processed.

This Policy applies to information handled within the app and to correspondence you send us by email or through the Google Play listing in connection with the app. It does not apply to any website, streaming service or platform you may reach while using the app; those services are operated by others and are governed by their own policies.

Please read this Policy carefully so that you understand what is collected, why it is collected and what choices you have. If you do not agree with any part of it, please do not download, install or use the app. By installing or continuing to use the app, you confirm that you accept the practices described here.

Should you require clarification of any provision of this Policy, or wish to exercise any of the rights set out in Section 4, please contact us at dev@bigscal.com

2. Data Collection and Usage

The information processed depends upon the manner in which you use the app. As the app provides no registration, no user account and no cloud storage, the substantial majority of the data it handles remains on your device and is not transmitted to us.

The Data You Provide to Us

As the app offers no sign-in facility, personal information is provided to us directly only where you elect to contact us, whether by way of a support request, a bug report, a feature suggestion or a privacy request. In those cases we hold the email address you write from, the content of your message and any screenshot, log file or attachment you send. We obtain no name, profile picture, contact list or comparable detail from Google or from any social platform, as the app does not require you to authenticate through one.

Automatic Information Collection

When you install and use the app, the following is collected automatically by the third-party services listed in Section 5:

Device information. The manufacturer and model of your device, operating system version, system language, screen dimensions, app version and a resettable device identifier. This information enables us to deliver the appropriate build for your hardware and to determine whether a reported fault is specific to a particular class of device.

Advertising identifier. The app is made available free of charge and is supported by advertising revenue. To select, cap and measure the ads shown to you, our advertising partners process your Google Advertising ID, IP address, device and app details, and ad interaction events such as impressions and taps. This identifier is resettable and deletable by you at any time through your device settings, as described in Section 4.

Usage and analytics data. Through Google Analytics for Firebase we receive counted events describing how the app is used overall: which screens are opened, which features are used, session length, and how often downloads succeed or fail. Such data is received in aggregate form and serves to inform development decisions; it does not constitute a record of the activity of any individual user.

Log and crash data. If the app stops unexpectedly, a diagnostic report is generated containing the error trace, your device's IP address, device name, operating system version, app configuration, the date and time of the fault and related technical statistics. This is used to reproduce and repair the fault.

Application Permission Requirements

To enable specific functions, the app requests the following on your device. Each permission is used solely for the function identified against it, and declining a permission disables that function alone, leaving the remainder of the app unaffected.

STORAGE / WRITE ACCESS - Required to save completed downloads into the folder you choose. Its use is confined to writing the files you have requested and managing them within the app; it is not employed to alter, delete or examine unrelated contents of your device storage.

READ MEDIA VIDEO / READ MEDIA AUDIO - Required so that the "All Videos" library can list and play media already present on your device. This authorisation permits the app to display your local media on screen for the duration of your use of the app only; the files themselves are at no point uploaded, indexed or transmitted to us.

NOTIFICATIONS - Required to show download progress, completion and failure alerts. Should you decline this permission, downloads will continue to run in the background, although you will not be notified upon their completion.

INTERNET / NETWORK STATE, FOREGROUND SERVICE, WAKE LOCK - Required to fetch media, to distinguish Wi-Fi from mobile data, and to keep a download running when the screen is off or you move to another app.

Any of the above can be withdrawn at any time under Settings > Apps > Video Downloader & HD Player > Permissions on your device.

Data Usage

The information described above is used for a defined set of purposes, namely: to operate the download and playback functions you have requested; to diagnose and remedy faults; to establish, in aggregate, which features merit continued development; to display and measure advertising, by which the app is funded; to detect fraud and abuse; and to respond to you where you have contacted us.

We do not use your data to build our own marketing profiles, and we do not carry out automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects for you. We do not sell personal information, and we do not disclose it to third parties for their own independent commercial purposes. The service providers named in Section 5 receive data only to perform the functions described there, under contracts that restrict them to our instructions.

Beyond those providers, information is disclosed only where we are legally compelled to do so, such as in response to a valid court order or a binding request from a competent authority; where it is necessary to investigate fraud or protect someone's safety; or, if the app or our business is acquired or merged, as part of that transaction, in which case the successor remains bound by this Policy until users are given notice of any replacement.

3. Data Security and Storage

The confidentiality of your data is a matter we take seriously. Information transmitted between the app and our service providers is encrypted in transit using current TLS standards; access to the analytics and crash reporting consoles is restricted to those personnel who require it and is protected by multi-factor authentication; and the volume of data collected is deliberately limited to the minimum the app requires. Notwithstanding the foregoing, no method of electronic transmission or storage can be guaranteed to be entirely secure, and we are unable to warrant the absolute protection of information transmitted to us over the internet.

A material safeguard arises from the design of the app itself: as it operates without accounts and without cloud storage, no central repository of user content exists that could be exposed.

Storage and retention differ by data type:

  • Data held on your device - downloaded files, playback history, resume positions, playlists and app settings are stored in local storage only, without backup. Such data remains until you delete it, and is permanently removed upon uninstallation of the app. We retain no copy and are accordingly unable to restore it.
  • Crash and diagnostic reports - retained for 90 days by our provider and then deleted.
  • Analytics events - retained at event level for 12 months, after which only aggregate totals containing no identifiers remain.
  • Advertising identifiers - held by our advertising partners in accordance with their own published retention schedules.
  • Support correspondence - retained for 12 months from your last message unless a longer period is required for a legal claim.

As we operate no accounts, there is no account for you to delete. If you wish us to erase support correspondence or any other information we hold that relates to you, email dev@bigscal.com with the subject line "Data Deletion Request" and we will action it within 30 days.

4. User's Rights

A number of controls are available to you directly and take effect immediately, without any requirement to contact us:

  • Reset or delete your advertising identifier under Settings > Privacy > Ads on your device. Deletion of the identifier prevents apps from receiving one at all.
  • Change your advertising consent at any time from Settings > Privacy options inside the app (shown to users in the EEA, the UK and Switzerland).
  • Withdraw any permission through your device's application settings.
  • Clear the app's local data or uninstall the app to erase everything held on your device.

In addition, and depending on where you live, you may hold the following rights in relation to information we process:

(1) Right of access. You may ask us to confirm whether we process information relating to you and to provide a copy of it.

(2) Right to rectification. You may ask us to correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete.

(3) Right to erasure. You may ask us to delete information where it is no longer needed for the purpose it was collected for, where you have withdrawn consent and no other legal basis applies, where you have successfully objected to the processing, or where it has been processed unlawfully.

(4) Right to restriction. You may ask us to pause processing while an objection or a dispute about accuracy is resolved.

(5) Right to object. You may object to processing that we carry out on the basis of our legitimate interests, and you may object to direct marketing at any time without giving a reason.

(6) Right to data portability. You may ask to receive information you provided to us in a structured, machine-readable format.

(7) Right to withdraw consent. Where processing is based on your consent, you may withdraw it at any time. Doing so stops further processing but does not affect the lawfulness of processing carried out beforehand.

(8) Right to complain. You may lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. We would encourage you to raise the matter with us in the first instance, although you are under no obligation to do so.

Residents of California additionally have the right to know what is collected, to delete it, to correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information for money; however, the disclosure of advertising identifiers to our advertising partners for targeted advertising may qualify as "sharing for cross-context behavioural advertising" under the CCPA as amended by the CPRA. You may opt out by deleting your advertising identifier in your device settings or by emailing us with the subject line "Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information". We will not deny you service, apply differential pricing or provide a diminished level of quality by reason of your having exercised a privacy right.

To exercise any of these rights, email dev@bigscal.com. As the app operates no accounts, kindly include your device model, app version and approximate date of installation in order that we may locate any relevant records. We respond within 30 days and will tell you if a complex request requires an extension. Where the information we hold is pseudonymous and cannot be attributed to you as an identifiable individual, we will set out the searches undertaken and the reasons why the information cannot be linked to you.

5. External Links and Third-Party Services

The app may contain links to external websites. Upon following such a link, you access a service which falls outside our operational control, and we would encourage you to review the privacy policy of any site you visit. We accept no liability under this Policy for the content, privacy practices or data handling of third parties.

The following third-party services operate within the app and process data as described in Section 2. Each is governed by its own privacy policy:

Regarding downloaded content. The app is a general-purpose tool for saving media that you are entitled to save, such as your own uploads, content that its publisher offers for download, and material in the public domain or released under a licence that permits it. We do not host, index, decrypt or supply any media ourselves, and we have no visibility of the material downloaded by any individual user. The app is not designed for, and must not be used for, downloading content from services whose terms of service prohibit it, nor for downloading copyright-protected material without the rights holder's permission. Responsibility for compliance with copyright law and with the terms of service of any platform you visit rests with the user.

6. Age Requirement

The app is intended for users aged 13 or above, or the higher minimum age that applies where you live. It is not directed at children, it is not distributed in a children's category on Google Play, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone below the applicable age.

Should we become aware that information belonging to an underage user has been received by us, we will delete it promptly and disable the associated advertising personalisation. Parents and guardians who believe that a child has provided information to us should contact us at dev@bigscal.com, and we will act upon a verified request without requiring formal legal process.

7. Updates to the Privacy Policy

We may revise this Policy from time to time as the app develops and as the law changes. Where we do so, the date shown at the top of this page will be updated to reflect the current version.

Minor clarifications take effect on publication. Where a revision materially changes how we handle your information, such as the collection of a new category of data, a new purpose or a new class of recipient, we will give notice within the app or through the Google Play listing before it takes effect, and where consent is legally required we will ask for it rather than assume it. Continued use of the app following the date on which a revision takes effect constitutes acceptance of the revised Policy. We encourage you to review this page periodically.
